What a wonderful person Aukje Lonhard is. For more than 20 years she was associated with GroupM B.V. and its roughly 1,500 employees, where she took care of everything to do with pensions and additional services for our staff. I first met Aukje well before the turn of the century. At the start of my career: young, ambitious and carefree. Busy with everything, but certainly not with my own pension or that of my colleagues.

Fortunately I met Aukje, who in the years that followed helped me, across various organisations, to inform my mostly young colleagues and myself about pensions, and even to get them enthusiastic about looking after their pension. Following the legal merger of three foundations into a new foundation, Nationaal Media Onderzoek, we had to harmonise the terms of employment of all employees of the new foundation. That is when you realise just how many points employment contracts can differ on. A great project that we were well able to tackle ourselves, with a focus on the interests of both the employees and the founders of the foundation.

The pension component is a trickier part and requires far more knowledge of current and future pension schemes. We didn't want to burn our fingers on that without the help of a specialist. Then only one name came to mind, based on earlier experience: Aukje Lonhard. She came, saw and conquered, and not only from the perspective of the board, but from that of the employees too. Explaining difficult material simply, and a listening ear for individual questions. Delighted with her contribution at this stage in the development of Nationaal Media Onderzoek.
